Abstract: STATCOM is a shunt connected reactive power compensation equipment .There is different types of FACTS devices, but the STATCOM. It offers better performance due to high dynamic performance and its compensation does not depend on coupling voltage. This paper deals with the dynamic model and analysis of static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). The STATCOM have been modeled and the mathematical equations that explain their behaviour have been introduced Simulation results prove the validity of the model. PI controller is implemented to control STATCOM that tracks the voltage.
